Description

Tender chicken braised in apple cider with onions and herbs for a comforting fall dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs bone-in chicken thighs
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Brown the chicken on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.
  4. Remove chicken and add onion and garlic to the skillet.
  5. Cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  6. Pour in apple cider and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and braise covered for 25-30 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread. Adjust cider for sweetness.
