Egyptian Kofta Kebab

  • Author: Chef Emy

Description

Juicy and flavorful Egyptian-style kofta kebabs made with ground beef, aromatic spices, and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a long, cylindrical kebab around skewers. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes beforehand to prevent burning.
  3. Brush the kebabs lightly with olive oil to keep them moist during cooking.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the kebabs for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Serve hot with pita bread, tahini sauce, or a side of fresh salad.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
