Description
A delicious and elegant appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with sweet fig jam, drizzled honey, and crispy prosciutto. Perfect for holiday gatherings or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz brie cheese, rind removed
- 1/4 cup fig jam or preserves
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4–6 slices prosciutto, torn into pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Place the brie in the center of the pastry. Top with fig jam and drizzle with half of the honey.
- Fold the pastry up around the brie to enclose it, pressing the edges to seal. Brush with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and immediately top with torn prosciutto pieces and a drizzle of the remaining honey.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm with crackers or bread.
Notes
Ensure the puff pastry is thawed but still cold for best results. If the brie is too runny after baking, let it cool slightly before slicing. This recipe serves 6-8 as an appetizer.
