Beef Stroganoff with Egg Noodles

Description

A classic Russian dish featuring tender beef in a creamy mushroom sauce served over egg noodles.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz egg noodles

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned. Remove beef from skillet.
  4. Add mushrooms to skillet; cook until softened.
  5. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until thickened.
  7. Return beef to skillet; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Stir in sour cream; season with salt and pepper. Do not boil.
  9. Serve over egg noodles.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use beef tenderloin. Serve with a side salad.
