For the Crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Melt butter and chocolate together in a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Whisk in sugar, then eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
- Fold in flour and salt until just combined. Add walnuts if using.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes until set but still slightly soft.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares.
