For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup water (as needed)
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a small bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add yogurt, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Knead into a soft dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each into a small circle and place shredded cheese and cilantro in the center.
- Seal the edges and roll gently into a flat oval or round shape.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed up.
- Brush with melted butter before serving.
