  • Author: Chef Emy

Description

A delicious and fluffy Indian flatbread stuffed with melted cheese, perfect as a side or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup water (as needed)
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add yogurt, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each into a small circle and place shredded cheese and cilantro in the center.
  5. Seal the edges and roll gently into a flat oval or round shape.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Brush with melted butter before serving.
