For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla, sour cream, and milk.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts (if using). Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter.
- Pour remaining batter over the streusel layer, then top with the remaining streusel mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool slightly before serving.
