For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla, sour cream, and milk.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts (if using). Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter.
  5. Pour remaining batter over the streusel layer, then top with the remaining streusel mixture.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
