For the Crust:
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 cup sweet corn kernels
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese until melted. Mix in cooked macaroni and corn.
- Transfer to a baking dish. Top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
