For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, pureed
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Mix in the strawberry puree. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
