Pumpkin Brownies

Fudgy brownies swirled with spiced pumpkin puree for a delicious fall twist on a classic dessert.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, combine pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and brown sugar.
  5. Spread 2/3 of brownie batter in pan. Drop spoonfuls of pumpkin mixture over top. Swirl with a knife. Bake 25-30 minutes until set.
  6. Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
