Savory French Onion Sausage Rolls

A delicious twist on classic sausage rolls with the rich flavors of French onion soup.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup gruyere cheese, shredded

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes. Stir in thyme and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. In a bowl, mix cooked onions with ground sausage and gruyere cheese.
  4. Roll out puff pastry sheet and cut into rectangles. Spoon sausage mixture onto each rectangle.
  5. Brush edges with beaten egg, then roll and seal. Brush tops with remaining egg.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
