For the Crust:
- 6 cups crumbled cornbread
- 4 cups day-old biscuit or white bread cubes
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups chicken or turkey broth
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté celery and onion until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in beaten eggs and broth until mixture is moist but not soupy. Adjust broth as needed.
- Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until top is golden brown and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
