For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F. Grease a 9Γ—5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Cream butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Mix in sour cream.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over top. Bake 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Whisk powdered sugar and milk for glaze; drizzle over cooled bread.
