  • 8 ozdark chocolate
  • 4large eggs
  • 1 cupgranulated sugar
  • 1/2 cupunsalted butter
  • 1 tspvanilla extract
  • 1/4 cupall-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cupunsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cupwhipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and dust with cocoa powder.
  2. Melt dark chocolate and butter together until smooth.
  3. Whisk eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy; fold in the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Sift flour and cocoa powder, then gently fold into the batter.
  5. Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely on wire racks.
  6. Whip fresh cream until soft peaks form; layer between cakes and on top before serving.
