Description
These gingerbread cookies are a holiday favorite, spiced with ginger and cinnamon.
Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and molasses.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the molasses mixture.
- Cover and chill dough for at least one hour.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Roll out dough on floured surface to 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut into shapes with cookie cutter.
- Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to one week. Decorate with icing for a festive touch.
