Description

Fresh cucumbers topped with smoked salmon and a zesty herb cream cheese for a festive holiday appetizer that’s easy to make and elegant to serve. Perfect for Christmas gatherings with its vibrant colors and simple flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Ingredients:
  • For the cream cheese spread:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • For assembly:
  • 2 large English cucumbers, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 8 ounces smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • Fresh dill sprigs, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, chopped chives, lemon zest, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and well incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  2. Spread about 1/2 teaspoon of the herb cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber round.
  3. Top each with a small piece of smoked salmon, folding or arranging it neatly.
  4. Garnish with fresh dill sprigs.
  5. Arrange on a serving platter and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing.

Notes

Prepare the cream cheese mixture up to 1 day ahead and store covered in the refrigerator. Assemble just before serving to keep cucumbers crisp. For a dairy-free option, substitute with a vegan cream cheese alternative.
