For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  2. Whisk flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually mix into butter mixture until dough forms.
  3. Divide dough in half, flatten into discs, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out heart shapes, using a smaller heart cutter for half to create window tops.
  5. Bake at 350Β°F for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely.
  6. Spread jam on solid hearts, dust window tops with powdered sugar, and sandwich together.
