Mama’s Banana Pudding

A classic Southern dessert with layers of vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers.

For the Crust:

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafers

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk and cold water until well combined.
  2. Add the instant vanilla pudding mix and whisk for 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for 5 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until smooth.
  5. Layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture in a serving dish. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
