- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
For extra cheesiness, add more cheese on top before baking. Adjust seasoning to taste.
