Description

A creamy potato gratin with a crispy cheese topping, perfect for a comforting side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a bowl, mix the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Layer the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan and Gruyere cheeses evenly on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
  7. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil the top for the last 2-3 minutes. Use a mandoline for uniform potato slices.
