Description

These festive butter cookies are shaped like Christmas trees and flavored with almond extract, perfect for holiday baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • green food coloring (optional)
  • sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and almond extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. If desired, divide dough and knead in green food coloring for tree-shaped cookies.
  6. Roll dough into small balls, then shape into cone shapes resembling Christmas trees.
  7. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool and decorate with sprinkles.
