These festive butter cookies are shaped like Christmas trees and flavored with almond extract, perfect for holiday baking.

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- green food coloring (optional)

Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and almond extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- If desired, divide dough and knead in green food coloring for tree-shaped cookies.
- Roll dough into small balls, then shape into cone shapes resembling Christmas trees.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool and decorate with sprinkles.
