Baked Apple Cider Donuts

Warm, spiced donuts with rich apple cider flavor, baked to perfection and coated in cinnamon sugar.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup reduced apple cider
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • For coating: 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease donut pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and reduced cider mixed with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Spoon batter into donut pans, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  6. Cool slightly, then brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
