Description

A festive holiday dessert featuring layers of cake, custard, fruit, and whipped cream, perfect for Christmas gatherings.


Ingredients

  • Custard:
  • 2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • Trifle:
  • 1 (10 inch) prepared angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 (6 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Garnish:
  • Additional berries for topping
  • Chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

  1. Custard:
  2. In a large bowl, beat pudding mix and milk with a whisk for 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
  3. Trifle Assembly:
  4. Place half of the cake cubes in a 4-quart trifle bowl or clear glass dish.
  5. Top with half of the strawberries, half of the pineapple, and half of the blueberries.
  6. Layer half of the custard over the fruit.
  7. Repeat layers.
  8. Whipped Cream:
  9. In a large bowl, beat cream, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  10. Spread over the top of the trifle.
  11. Garnish:
  12. Top with additional berries and chocolate shavings if desired.
  13. Refrigerate until serving.

Notes

For best results, prepare the trifle a few hours in advance to allow flavors to meld. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
