- Custard:
- 2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 cups cold milk
- Trifle:
- 1 (10 inch) prepared angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 (6 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Garnish:
- Additional berries for topping
- Chocolate shavings for topping
Instructions
- Custard:
- In a large bowl, beat pudding mix and milk with a whisk for 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
- Trifle Assembly:
- Place half of the cake cubes in a 4-quart trifle bowl or clear glass dish.
- Top with half of the strawberries, half of the pineapple, and half of the blueberries.
- Layer half of the custard over the fruit.
- Repeat layers.
- Whipped Cream:
- In a large bowl, beat cream, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Spread over the top of the trifle.
- Garnish:
- Top with additional berries and chocolate shavings if desired.
- Refrigerate until serving.
Notes
For best results, prepare the trifle a few hours in advance to allow flavors to meld. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
