For the Crust:

  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Cooking spray
  • Optional: caramel sauce or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Peel and core apples, then cut into 1/2-inch thick fry-shaped strips.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  3. Dredge each apple strip in flour, dip in egg, then coat evenly in the spiced breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange apple fries in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve immediately with caramel sauce or a dusting of powdered sugar.
