For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add orzo and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
