For the Crust:

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 45-60 minutes or until the mixture thickens and reduces by half.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated. Let cool before transferring to an airtight container.
