Description

Delicious homemade meatballs simmered in a creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides.
  4. Remove meatballs and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook until softened.
  6. Add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir in heavy cream and return meatballs to the skillet.
  8. Cook for 10-15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and sauce is thickened.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef and use low-fat cream.
