For the Crust:
- For the oats:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- For the chai spice blend:
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- For topping (optional):
- Sliced almonds
- Fresh berries
- Drizzle of honey
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- 1. In a mason jar or airtight container, combine the rolled oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, and maple syrup.
- 2. In a small bowl, mix together all the chai spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg).
- 3. Add the spice blend to the oat mixture and stir well to combine.
- 4. Seal the container and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).
- 5. In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.
- 6. Top with sliced almonds, fresh berries, and a drizzle of honey if desired.
- 7. Enjoy cold or slightly warmed!
Notes
For a stronger chai flavor, steep a chai tea bag in the milk for 5 minutes before using. Remove the tea bag and proceed with the recipe. Oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
