Description

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef short ribs
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Gruyere cheese
  • 4 slices French bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Season short ribs with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium heat; brown the ribs on all sides.
  4. Remove ribs and sauté onions and garlic until caramelized.
  5. Add beef broth, red wine, and thyme; return ribs to the pot.
  6. Cover and bake in the oven for 2-3 hours until ribs are tender.
  7. Toast French bread slices and top with Gruyere cheese; broil until cheese melts.
  8. Serve ribs over the cheese toast.
