These fluffy herb butter dinner rolls are infused with fresh herbs and perfect for Thanksgiving or any holiday dinner. Easy to make and delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (0.25 oz) packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For the herb butter:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Stir until combined.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. For the herb butter:
  9. While rolls are baking, mix softened butter with chopped parsley, thyme, and chives.
  10. Brush the warm rolls with the herb butter immediately after removing from the oven.

Notes

These rolls can be made ahead and frozen. Thaw and reheat before serving. For extra flavor, add minced garlic to the herb butter.
