For the Crust:
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Place chopped apples and water in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until apples are soft, about 15-20 minutes.
- Mash apples with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency.
- Stir in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve warm.
