Description

A succulent roasted pork shoulder glazed with caramelized apples and enriched with sage-infused pan gravy for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs pork shoulder, bone-in
  • 4 large apples, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large oven-safe pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sear the pork on all sides until browned.
  4. Add onions, garlic, and sage to the pan, cooking until fragrant.
  5. Arrange sliced apples around the pork and pour in chicken broth.
  6. Cover and roast in the oven for 3 hours, or until the pork is tender.
  7. Remove pork and let rest; strain pan juices to make gravy.
  8. Serve pork with caramelized apples and sage gravy.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith to prevent them from becoming too mushy. Pair with roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
