  • Author: Chef Emy
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A classic homemade turkey gravy made entirely from scratch using turkey drippings, flour, and broth for a rich, savory flavor perfect for Thanksgiving or any holiday meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup turkey drippings (from roasted turkey, or substitute with butter)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a saucepan over medium heat and add the turkey drippings.
  2. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
  3. Gradually whisk in the broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over turkey or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a smoother gravy, strain through a fine-mesh sieve before serving. Adjust salt and pepper based on the saltiness of your broth.
