For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  3. Sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
