For the Crust:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
  5. Scoop entire dough onto prepared baking sheet and shape into one giant cookie (about 10-inch diameter).
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes until edges are golden but center is still soft. Cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes before serving.
