For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 12 salted caramel candies
  • Sea salt for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner halfway with batter. Place a caramel candy in the center of each, then cover with remaining batter.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until tops spring back when lightly touched. Let cool slightly before serving.
  7. Sprinkle with sea salt before serving for an extra burst of flavor.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
