French Toast Bake

A delicious and easy make-ahead breakfast casserole with the flavors of French toast.

For the Crust:

  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the bread cubes evenly in the dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down to ensure all bread is soaked.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Drizzle over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set. Let cool slightly before serving.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
