For the Crust:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons pink food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, pink food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar. Mix until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting once cooled.
